The main objectives of Aerospace innovative structural design laboratory are to do researches on structural design and optimization of innovative lightweight composite aerospace structure towards higher performance and lower manufacturing costs for future aerospace plane, to conduct feasibility study of hydrogen powered aircraft based on conceptual aircraft design technique, and to educate researchers and engineers with the basic skill and knowledge about advanced composite material and computational mechanics to realize an innovative structural design and its social implementation.
Towards an extreme lightweight aerospace structures and efficient design for them, the following research topics are carried out
1. Researches on innovative aerospace structure using advanced composite materials
2. Numerical simulation and optimization techniques for efficient structural design
3. High-fidelity evaluation of reliability and damage tolerance of advanced composite structures
4. Implementation of developed schemes to actual aerospace structural design
In addition, towards realization of hydrogen powered aircraft, conceptual design study is conducted considering airframe/propulsion integration.
Posters and mock-ups related to the above research activity are exhibited.
