Panel on Hokkaido Spaceport
The Hokkaido Spaceport, a commercial spaceport open to the private sector, began full-scale operations in Taiki Town in April 2021. Taiki Town, with its vast land and geographical advantages such as the expansiveness of the sea to the east and south for rocket launches and the high expandability of rocket launch sites, has been touted as an ideal location for a world-class spaceport, and has been promoting the attraction of the aerospace industry for about 40 years.
With the vision of creating a ‘Space Silicon Valley’ in Hokkaido, we are preparing launch and testing sites for rockets and space planes, contributing to the development of the aerospace industry as an infrastructure that supports the world’s space business. We also aim to revitalize the region and create businesses centered on the aerospace industry.
