Store Carriage and Release Equipment, our mission is the success of your mission

Founded in 1927 and based in Turate (Italy, Milan area), AEREA is a privately owned mid-size enterprise highly specialized in development, design, manufacturing and MRO&U of carriage and release equipment for airborne stores (14/30’’ release units, and rail missile launchers), role equipment (specialized pod, pylons, wing armament carriers, gun mounts), structural components, and ground support equipment for fixed and rotary wing military aircraft.
Our products equip prominent national and international NATO platforms such as EF2000 Typhoon, F-35 Lightning II, M346, MALE RPAS, NH90, and AW/T129, 149, 249.
Mechanical design expertise, gained over years of experience, along with the high quality of our production departments and state-of-the-art facilities are the basis of AEREA’s outstanding ability to provide solutions optimizing the requirements of the aircraft platform from development to post-production support.
Fully owned by AEREA; Galvair is a separate firm located nearby Florence, specialized in surface processes and NDIs for metal parts and supporting, besides AEREA’s manufacturing needs, customers in aeronautics, space, and automotive sectors.

Pneumatic ejection release units

Exploiting AEREA’s proprietary pneumatic technology, PLDERU (Pneumatic Light Duty Ejector Release Unit) is a family of lightweight (14”) high performance ejector racks, featuring an integrated air tank and a high-speed pneumatic solenoid valve, energized via double redundant electrical circuit.
Compared to legacy pyrotechnic solutions, the pneumatic technology allows a considerable reduction in operating cost, due to increased reliability and fewer periodic maintenance requirements, with no need for post firing cleaning operations.
It also guarantees consistent performances and reduces fatigue reactions to the aircraft structure.
PLDERU meets requirements of the most advanced programs:
- Front/back distribution of the adjustable ejective force in order to ensure safe separation of a wide range of stores throughout the maximum flight envelope:
- Arming unit “zero retention force”, SSD and “strong point” connectors:
- Automatic hooking/unhooking and preloading systems, controlled from a single operating point, with the advantage of safety, ease, and simplicity of ground operations.
The PLDERU is adaptable to any Close Air Support or Advanced Trainer platforms, including the most sophisticated ones, such as M346FA (combat variants) and is ready for future updates, such as sensor integration for aircraft-to-store interface digitization.

Missile Rail Launchers

From the ALMA-A1 launcher for the Italian-Brazilian AMX Program to the latest variant of the F-35 air-to-air missile rail launchers, AEREA has considerable experience in design and manufacturing of missile rail launchers for fighter aircraft, meeting the most demanding requirements of both the aircraft and the weapon segment.
Development of the unique design of the AEREA Forward Detent Assembly (FDA), adopted by Eurofighter for both its MFRL and ITSPL missile rail launchers represented a major milestone. FDA is a multipurpose detent, immediately compatible with most short/mid-range air-to-air missiles such as AIM-9s, IRIS-T, ASRAAM, AMRAAM and generic BVRAAM (i.e. Meteor).
For the F-35 Program, in the early 2000s, AEREA has relocated engineers to Lockheed Martin in Dallas-
Fort Worth supporting the design of today’s LAU-151/152 missile launchers.
AEREA performed Static and Fatigue life ground tests of this launcher in its laboratories and LAU151/152 are now manufactured in the Turate plant in support of the worldwide Lightning II fleet requirements.
A more recent development is the ASRML (AEREA Short Range Missiles Launcher), a lighter missile launcher successfully integrated onto Leonardo’s M346 in both underwing and wingtip installations. ASRML is easily configurable with either standard bail lugs (MS3314) compatible with 14” bomb rack in accordance with MILSTD-8591 or with two 14” spaced bolts mating with the A/C pylon structure.
